Renewable energy

With the nation’s first offshore wind farm is just few miles from our campus, faculty and students from the College of the Environment and Life Sciences played a key role in the planning and research of the project.

The methods developed at URI serve as a global model for successful spatial planning. Our researchers are also studying the impact on local fisheries, bird populations, tourism and property valuations to help policy makers make informed decisions as they transition to sustainable and low-carbon energy systems.
