International Engineering Program

About the IEP

Since 1987, the International Engineering Program has provided an unmatched global engineering experience for students looking to leave their mark on society. Jointly administered by the College of Engineering and the College of Arts & Sciences, the program marries engineering and foreign language for a seamless five-year experience.

Leadership

The University of Rhode Island provides research and expertise to institutions across the country on how to build and sustain international engineering programs, integrate their engineering and language programs, create appropriate research venues, and engage industry.

Colloquium on International Engineering Education

Founded by the International Engineering Program (IEP) at the University of Rhode Island, the purpose of the Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education is to provide a forum to discuss and share issues and ideas related to the field. The Colloquium provides engineering and language educators, international program administrators, deans, provosts, presidents, corporate leaders, public sector representatives and students common ground to talk about educating engineers for today’s global workplace. The annual colloquium meets every other year in Rhode Island, alternating with partner schools across the country:

2023 ACIEE to be hosted by Virginia Tech

Registration for the 26th Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education is now open! This conference will be hosted by Virginia Tech at the Hilton Old Town Alexandria, in Alexandria, Virginia on November 2-3, 2023. This year’s conference theme is “Developing the Global Engineering Workforce”.

The conference registration fee includes attendance at all sessions, a continental breakfast and lunch on Thursday and Friday, as well as a conference dinner on Thursday evening. Register here. Early registration rates end September 3!

There is also a block of rooms reserved at the conference venue, the Hilton Alexandra Old Town, at a reduced rate. Rooms will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Lodging details are provided here.
