Aquaculture and Fishery Technology at URI is designed to prepare students for professional or technical careers in aquaculture or fisheries oriented occupations. It is sufficiently broad to allow for specialization in either Fisheries or Aquaculture Science and Technology.

Animal Science and Technology at URI is designed to prepare students for professional or technical careers in applied animal science. Options are available in Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Animal Sciences and Laboratory Animal Sciences.

All students receive the Bachelor of Science Degree in Environment and Life Science, with majors in their respective fields of study. In addition to preparation in the basic arts and sciences, the Major includes program courses, supporting requirements, and supporting electives through which a student may obtain additional preparation in other programs offered throughout the university.

A minimum of 130 credits is required for graduation in either Aquaculture and Fisheries or Animal Science majors.

The Department offers the option of Minor Fields of Study in either Aquaculture and Fisheries Science and Technology or Animal Science and Technology. The Minor in either Aquaculture and Fisheries or Animal Science requires the completion of 18 credits from an approved list of courses. Students electing a Minor Field of Study in the Department are encouraged to speak to a faculty advisor in the desired field of study.
