University Grants

The University provides funds for need based grants, such as the Rhode Island Grant, University Grant and Founders Grant, to several thousand students. Awards are made to students with satisfactory academic records and demonstrated financial need. You must file a FAFSA each year to be eligible for these grants. The amount of these grants may vary from year to year based on your FAFSA information.

The following examples may cause adjustments to your financial aid awards in type and amount:

  • Residency changes (in state, out of state or regional designations)
  • Enrollment status
  • Changes to your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
  • Athletic awards
  • Outside scholarships
  • Tuition waivers.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students in years 5 and 6 (P3/P4) are considered Independent graduate level students.  Financial aid awards may be adjusted in both type and amount.  Contact Enrollment Services for more information.
