Although this has been a challenging year through the COVID-19 Pandemic, URI Greek Life has still persisted to offer one of the best experiences at URI as we reflect on the year and close out another year at URI.
As a community URI Greek Life is very excited to have been awarded and recognized again at NGLA. NGLA (The Northeast Greek Leadership Association) gives awards yearly to Greek Communities in the Northeast region that outperform others in many different categories including Philanthropy, Public Relations, Risk Management, etc.
On Wednesday, February 24, the URI Greek Community accepted three awards! These awards were for Excellence in the area of Civic Engagement, Multicultural Initiatives and Programming, as well as Risk Reduction. Given Covid-19, accepting these awards was certainly not easy, and truly goes to show the amazing things Greek Life can do.
URI Greek Life has received awards at the annual NGLA Conference for over a decade now and is eager to pursue more awards in the years to come. Greek Week just having passed helped to raise money for Steps of Faith Foundation as well as Amputee Blade Runners and also helped to award various chapters for exceptional philanthropy and involvement. Congratulations again to the pairing of Delta Phi Epsilon, Alpha Epsilon Pi, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon for winning first place, Sigma Delta Tau and Zeta Beta Tau for second, and Kappa Sigma and Zeta Tau Alpha for third. The community raised a total of $91,228.00 which is the single biggest donation that the foundation has ever received.
