What the GSA Does for You:
Advocacy & Representation: The GSA represents graduate students at the university level, bringing your concerns and priorities to faculty, administration, and campus committees. From funding policies to program requirements, we ensure graduate student perspectives have a seat at the table.
Community & Events: Graduate school can feel isolating — the GSA works to change that. We organize social events, networking mixers, and interdisciplinary gatherings that help you build relationships beyond your department and find your community on campus.
Resources & Support: We connect students with professional development workshops, wellness resources, and academic support. Whether you need guidance navigating university systems or want to grow skills outside your research, the GSA is a resource hub for all things graduate life.

Pints and Perspectives
Pints & Perspectives is a salon-style gathering where a URI faculty member shares something they’re genuinely excited about — then opens the floor.
Each night kicks off with a 30-to-40-minute talk from a URI researcher or expert: something real, something thought-provoking, something worth an evening. What follows is an open conversation that goes wherever the room takes it. Some nights get philosophical. Some stay playful. All of them are designed to be approachable, welcoming, and worth showing up for.
This isn’t just drinks with a professor. It’s a chance to see the breadth of talent and curiosity that lives at URI — and to connect the university with the broader Rhode Island community. We’re building events that bring in community voices alongside URI speakers: local leaders, practitioners, artists, organizers, and people with perspectives that belong in the room.
At its core, Pints & Perspectives is about trust, connection, and the kind of conversations that are harder to have in a lecture hall. Come for the topic. Stay for the company.
