Incoming First-Year Students
Congratulations on your admission to URI! We are delighted you have decided to become a part of the URI community. The information on this page will help you to become one of the approximately 95% of incoming first-year students who annually choose to live in our residence halls. Whether it’s the opportunity to meet many new friends, the experience of a home away from home, or the easy access to so many of URI’s amazing services and resources, our residence halls provide a vibrant on-campus living and learning experience.
Completing the steps below by the priority dates will guarantee you receive a housing assignment, allow you to search for and self-select roommates, and give you the best chance of being assigned to your or your roommate’s Living and Learning Community (LLC). However, if you miss any of the priority deadlines, you can still submit a housing deposit and apply to live with us using the Late First-Year Student Housing application; we’ll just assign you on a rolling basis if/when space becomes available. However, we may not be able to assign you to your LLC or with a preferred roommate.

**Students who miss the priority deadline can still apply for housing by submitting an online First-Year Student Post-Priority Housing application starting on May 25th, 2025 at 9am ET. See information about the First-Year Student Post-Priority Housing process.
***Late roommate requests will not be honored. Students who miss the priority deadline can submit an online Room Change Request form in July (details to be emailed later). However, not all room change requests will be able to be honored.
