Study Abroad
Our study abroad programs span the Spanish-speaking world. Depending on their current academic circumstances and their future professional goals, most of our students usually study abroad during their second, third or fourth year of study. In response to the variety in student needs and interests, we have developed a range of different options to support your language education so that you may achieve your own unique goals.
Semester and Year-long Programs
Spanish students enjoy access to a wide variety of study abroad programs throughout Latin America and Spain. Faculty advisors work closely with students in order to help them find the best option, based on their interests and goals. Some of the most popular study abroad destinations that our students have chosen include: Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Perú, Puerto Rico, and Spain.
Spanish International Engineering Program Exchange Partners
Students in the Spanish International Engineering Program participate in our direct exchange programs with partner universities in Chile, Mexico, and Spain. These programs allow for the ultimate immersion experience, giving you access to courses designed for native speakers of Spanish. Other Spanish B.A. students may also apply to take advantage of these opportunities.

Summer Programs
Summer in Salamanca
Summer in Salamanca is a URI Faculty-led program that takes place in July. Students may earn up to six credits of Spanish. Course offerings span our entire curriculum.
Summer Immersion in Zaragoza
Summer immersion in Zaragoza is an affordable intensive language program offered from May through June. Earn between three and six credits of Spanish. Course offerings include: SPA 101, 102, 103, 104, 205, 206, 207 and 312.
Summer Immersion in Jaca
Summer immersion in Jaca is an affordable intensive language program offered in August. Earn between three and six credits of Spanish. Course offerings include: SPA 101, 102, 103, 104, 205, 206, 207 and 312.
Faculty-Led J-Term Programs
Earn academic credit while you learn about the Spanish speaking world or hone your language skills during our winter J-term courses. Courses vary year-to-year, but past programs led by faculty from across our campus have taken place in Chile, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Peru.
