The Leadership Institute is designed for first-year students who have leadership and service potential, with the hope that these students will become active members of the URI community.

Leadership Institute will continue to grow and adapt to widen the circle, welcome more folks, and make new memories. Get ready for HUNDREDS of connections in August 2026.
Participants of Leadership Institute will continue to enjoy opportunities to learn about and develop leadership skills, examine issues of inclusion and community participation, and discover leadership opportunities available at the university from some of URI’s outstanding peer student leaders, faculty members, and administrators.
Our program starts at the URI Kingston Campus. We will eventually transition to YMCA Camp Fuller in South Kingstown, RI. Transportation and meals are provided once the program starts. Students will return to the Kingston Campus in time to fully engage in O-Week activities.
The cost for the 2026 program is $250. Limited scholarships and financial aid will be available. For on campus residents, there will be an early move-in charge from the Housing and Residential Life department that will appear on your term bill. Follow us on social media for the latest updates!
