Biography

Alicia G. Vaandering is an Assistant Professor and the Student Success Librarian at the University Libraries. As Student Success Librarian, Alicia supports student learning and retention, with an emphasis on undergraduate first-year, international, first generation, and transfer students as well as students from underserved populations. Before joining the URI faculty in 2020, Alicia spent two years at Salve Regina University as the Education and Instruction Design Librarian for McKillop Library. She has also worked for the Talent Development Program as an instructor (2017-2020), the South County History Center (2014-2019), the URI Department of History as a teaching assistant (2014-2016), and the URI 125th Steering Committee as Special Projects Coordinator (2016-2017). Alicia teaches LIB 150: Search Strategies for the Information Age, a general education course that meets the following URI General Education Learning Outcomes: B4 (Information Literacy) and B2 (Communicate Effectively). This course is regularly offered both fall and spring semesters.
