Biography

Amanda Crego-Emley is an Assistant Professor and Reference & Instruction Librarian at the University Libraries. She also serves as Head of Reference, managing the Research Help Desk, coordinating reference services, and supervising Reference Graduate Student Assistants.

In addition to her reference work, Amanda annually teaches LIB 150: Search Strategies for the Information Age, a general education course that meets URI General Education Learning Outcomes B4 (Information Literacy) and B2 (Communicate Effectively). Across her credit-bearing course and her course-integrated instruction, Amanda seeks to deliver student-centered instruction guided by tenets of inclusive and active pedagogies and critical information literacy.

Research

Her research interests include reflective teaching practices, information literacy, and creating inclusive communities in libraries.
