Overview

This activity will provide telepresence support to multiple seagoing MDBC projects in the 2025 field season, including those on the NOAA Ship Nancy Foster. The team at URI will install Starlink Maritime Terminals, specialized Mobile Telepresence Units (MTUs), and other supporting equipment on ships to support live streaming video, data file transfers, VPN tunnel connectivity, shipboard Wi-Fi, and live educational outreach broadcast support. Additionally, they will support MDBC activities on at least two, and as many as four, ships — for a total of 100 sea days.
