Overview
This activity will use telepresence technologies to enhance participation in at-sea restoration missions for Mesophotic and Deep Benthic Communities (MDBC) and create compelling engagement opportunities for target audiences1. The project will facilitate live educational programs and produce high-quality media documentation of the MDBC restoration program. The activities will also include providing science communication training opportunities to at-sea teams and curate a comprehensive multimedia library of images and videos for internal and public engagement purposes.
MDBC Year 7 Update
Engagement, Storytelling, and Communications with MDBC
Alex DeCiccio (URI-ISC)
Overview
This project continues the partnership between MDBC’s Active Management and Protection (AMP) team and the URI Inner Space Center to grow public awareness of mesophotic habitats and restoration. The ISC builds outreach capacity, runs live education broadcasts from at-sea missions, and maintains a multimedia library of MDBC content — work focused on humanizing the restoration effort for stakeholders, students, and the broader public.
