Data Analytics for Accounting and Auditing Graduate Certificate (Online)

This Graduate Certificate program focuses primarily on data analytics as it applies to accounting and auditing, while other programs include coursework that may be focused only on auditing, only on financial accounting, or integrated into coursework primarily focused on other areas more than data analytics.

This program includes an independent study component that helps develop graduates’ skills in communicating data analysis information professionally.

Required Courses

MBA500: Statistical Methods for Management

(3 crs.) Introductory statistical methods applied to business problems. Topics include descriptive statistics, probability, distributions, inference, regression analysis, chi-square analysis, and introduction to time series. Graduate credit for students matriculated in the M.B.A., M.S. in Accounting, and Data Analytics for Accounting and Auditing online program.

MAC511: Data Analytics for Accounting

(3 crs.) Introduces data analytics processes and various applications of data analytics to accounting. Emphasis on hands-on learning experiences with varied analytical tools using real-world data. Graduate credit for students matriculated in the M.B.A., M.S. in Accounting, and Data Analytics for Accounting and Auditing online program.

MAC512: Data Analytics for Auditing

(3 crs.) Introduces data analytics processes and various applications of data analytics to auditing. Emphasis on hands-on learning experiences with varied analytical tools using real-world data. Graduate credit for students matriculated in the M.B.A., M.S. in Accounting, and Data Analytics for Accounting and Auditing online program.

MAC518: Directed Study in Accounting

(1-3 crs.) This course is designed to help students learn to apply analytics procedures, analysis, and presentation of results through an independent study in accounting or auditing. It also provides students with hands-on learning experience on varied analytical tools using real-world data. The course develops students’ skills in connecting data analytics procedures to professional accounting and auditing requirements as well as effective verbal and written communication of results.
