Courses

ART 505: UI Design: Styling and Prototyping
This course introduces students to the theory and practice of user interface design, focusing on visual communication tools and skills to facilitate prototyping. Students will acquire knowledge of the UI design thinking process centering on the user’s visual experience, while creating interfaces for websites and apps, their look and feel, responsiveness, and interactivity of their visual components, considering and recognizing the multiple human factors, audiences and contexts that govern their design decisions.

ART 506: UI Motion Design
This course introduces motion design in user experience within the principles of communication, orientation, and correlation. Students will learn how motion design can provide users with more meaningful experiences and interactions. It explores motion design as a sequence of movements that affects the user’s perception of any interface a user interacts with.

ART 507: UI Icon Design
This course introduces and develops the skills needed to conceptualize and design icons for user interfaces. Students will learn to generate UI icon sets through a process that explores visual rhetoric and shape form creation through a logical visual process. It provides an overview of the nature and purpose of icons in user interfaces, their key characteristics, and aesthetic rules commonly used in websites and apps.

ART 508: UI Information Visualization Design
This course focuses on the design, creation, application, and evaluation of information visualization for user interfaces. Students will learn to organize, visualize, and communicate information visualizations and implement on multiple platforms. Students will understand the importance of the interface focusing on users and the graphical depictions of complex information for more efficient and effective processing, leading to faster and more accurate results.
