The RN-BS is a bachelor’s degree program and does not lead to professional licensure.

In order to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from URI, you must complete all required nursing classes, statistics and pharmacology, meet URI’s General Education Requirements and complete a total of 120 credits with a 2.2 GPA. View curriculum sheet here.

Admissions
RN to BS Admission Criteria
- Associate degree or diploma in Nursing from an ACEN accredited program
- A 2.6 minimum cumulative GPA on 4.0 scale
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Active registered nursing license (unencumbered)
- Be in good standing and eligible to return to institutions previously attended.
For CCRI nursing students ONLY:
Students in their last semester of RN courses can apply to the online RN to BS program without submitting an active nursing license.
These students must submit proof of unencumbered RN licensure by the end of their first semester at URI.

Public Health Nurse
Responsibilities include promoting community wellness by assessing health needs, developing and implementing health education programs, advocating for public health policies, and providing preventive care to improve overall community health outcomes.

Case Manager
Responsibilities include coordinating and overseeing individualized care plans by assessing clients’ needs, connecting them to resources and services, and ensuring continuous support to achieve optimal health and well-being outcomes.

Pediatric Nurse
Responsibilities include providing specialized care to infants, children, and adolescents by conducting health assessments, administering treatments, educating families, and supporting the physical and emotional well-being of young patients.
