MOTORIST ASSISTANCE

Motorist Assistance Program (M.A.P)

The Motorist Assistance Program (M.A.P.)  is available free-of-charge to all faculty, staff, students and visitors parked on University property who need help, charging a dead battery, retrieving keys that have been locked inside a vehicle or run out of gas. In the winter months snow shovels are available and can be borrowed at the Parking Services office if needed.

M.A.P. service is available 24 hours, 7 days a week (including University holidays), by calling (401) 874-4910.

If you would like to request this service please call (401) 874-4910. The dispatcher answering the phone will ask for details and your contact information and will then provide an estimated time that Public Safety staff will arrive. If you’re requesting a jump-start we ask that you wait at your vehicle with the hood raised in order to help our staff more easily locate your vehicle.  Motorists must sign a waiver releasing the university from any liability in the event of vehicle damage.

Our staff will not provide any mechanical assistance or advice if your vehicle will not start after attempting to jump-start the battery. If jump starting your battery does not work, we suggest that you seek assistance from a mechanic.  If we cannot help you with your vehicle problem we can assist you in calling an off-campus tow truck.
