Registration and Refund Information:

Registration fee: $49.00. Register online at: www.uripharmacycpd.org. Upon login, select “Available Live Activities” and the program title. Technology Requirements: This live program will be delivered via Webex, an online meeting platform. Access to a computer or smart phone is required. Computer users will need to access the rhody.webex.com website and smart phone users will download and install the Webex app. A web camera is required so the moderator can verify attendance in the live ce program and a microphone is optional to ask questions via the chat function or audio. Registrants will receive an email with detailed instructions on how to join the online event upon successful registration.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:

  • Summarize the pathophysiologic processes leading to the progression and poor outcomes in patients with heart failure;
  • Describe how to formulate a drug therapy plan for a patient with heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) on the basis of the latest heart failure treatment guidelines from the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association;
  • Identify gender based differences in pharmacotherapy treatment for patients with HFrEF;
  • Discuss race based differences in pharmacotherapy treatment for patients with HFrEF;
  • Differentiate treatment options for patients with HFrEF and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF);
  • Describe the impact of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and selective COX-2 inhibitors on renal filtration in patients with heart failure;
  • Identify appropriate dietary sodium and fluid intake recommendations;
  • Develop and appropriate self-monitoring plan for patients with heart failure;
  • Identify strategies to optimize medication adherence;
  • Identify key signs and symptoms in patients presenting with heart failure;
  • Discuss the One Minute Clinic for Heart Failure (TOM-C HF) assessment tool; and
  • Develop evidence-informed, individualized plans for optimal management of patients with acute de-compensated heart failure.

Continuing Education Information

  • Pharmacists can earn Continuing Pharmacy Education credits for this program by logging onto the website: https://www.uripharmacycpd.org/student upon completion of the webinar, entering the activity specific code number provided at the end of the webinar, and successfully completing the activity learning assessment and evaluation form.   Attendance will be taken at the beginning and conclusion of the program for verification of attendance.

Evaluation Instructions:

  • Participants have 60 days to complete evaluations. After June 24, 2018, no credit will be available for this program.
  • CE data will be reported to the CPE Monitor upon completion of the program evaluations. CPE transcripts and statements of credit are available at mycpemonitor.net.
