The MIC provides a variety of training and educational opportunities for students and faculty.

Classroom Instruction

BPS542/CSC522/STA522/CMB522 Bioinformatics I

This class is offered at URI in the spring semester and is intended for graduate students and upper level undergraduates.  It is a combination of classroom lectures on bioinformatics topics (pipelines, omics data analysis, data visualization, etc.) and semester-length group projects.

Guest Lectures

Dr. Hemme offers guest lectures at URI and primarily undergraduate institutions (PUI’s) on select topics.

If there is sufficient demand, Dr. Hemme may also provide workshops for groups interested in specific topics and these workshops will be listed on the Events and Announcements page. Also consider our summer Workforce Development and Training Program.   Please contact Dr. Hemme if there is interest in a workshop.

Individual Training

If time permits, Dr. Hemme will provide one-on-one instruction to students and faculty on specific topics.  Priority will go to RI-INBRE researchers working on INBRE projects.  If you are interested in instruction in a topic that might interest others, consider requesting a workshop.  Please contact Dr. Hemme for more information.
