Rhode Island Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium

76 posters were presented by over 180 students

This year’s Rhode Island Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium (RI-SURS) was held at the University of Rhode Island (URI) on Friday, July 29th with students from our Rhode Island higher education institutions presenting their research findings.

The 2022 event marks the 15th year of the RI-INBRE and RI NSF EPSCoR/C-AIM programs collaboration to celebrate undergraduate research across the state.  In 2021 the annual summer poster conference was rebranded from the RI SURF Conference to the Rhode Island Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium (RI-SURS) to better capture the collaborative nature of the poster symposium, with students from across the state and different programs participating in the symposium.

We are proud to have President Marc Parlange of the University of Rhode Island, Provost Sean Reid of Providence College, and Provost Rupendra Paliwal of Bryant University providing Welcoming Remarks.

More than 180 students shared presentations of their summer research experiences with 76 posters presented from RI-INBRE SURF and SURF+, RI-INBRE Bridge to Graduate School, RI NSF EPSCoR/C-AIM SURF, URI MARC U*STAR, URI Science and Engineering, and more. Research fellows were joined by friends and family, faculty mentors, and staff from the University of Rhode Island, Brown University, Bryant University, the Community College of Rhode Island, Providence College, Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University, Salve Regina University, and the Rhode Island School of Design.
