Scientific Name: Aralia cordata Native to Japan, Korea, and eastern China. The stems can be eaten and is sometimes boiled and served in miso soup. The roots of the plant used in herbal medicines.

Scientific Name: Glycyrrhiza glabra Common flavor additive in food, beverages, and tobacco. It has been used to treat gastrointestinal conditions such as gastric ulcers, chronic gastritis and dyspepsia.
