On Tuesday, October 29th the student chapter of the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) at URI sponsored the annual Residency/Fellowship Information Session. The goal of the session is to provide information to pharmacy students of all years information about what residencies and fellowships are and how to prepare for a future position as a resident or fellow. Drs. Asal, Caetano, and Eisenhower provided specific information about the entire process, what is done at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, and how to apply.
A panel of 14 residents and fellows was present with 3 additional residents who graduated from URI in 2013 video conferencing in from West Virginia, Tennessee, and Florida. The panel fielded questions from the students about the process, how it was to move away, what it was like to be a resident/fellow, and many others. Dr. Lemay also participated and provided insight from the perspective of a residency program director. The program was well-attended with approximately 80 students participating.
Danielle Longo, the ASHP chapter president, organized the event with guidance by Dr. Kristina Ward and Mr. Michael Simeone.
