Check Your URI Application Status
When you apply to the University of Rhode Island, you will receive an acknowledgement email that includes instructions for checking the status of your application on the URI Applicant Portal. The email will provide a temporary pin, which you will be prompted to change after your first login.
It’s very important that you save your login credentials in a safe place, as you will be using them frequently to log in to your URI Applicant Portal throughout the admission process.

First-Year Student Application Checklist
Transfer students should refer to our transfer admission page for their detailed application checklist.
Your application will be reviewed when the Office of Admission has received all of these materials:
- Common Application
- $65 application fee or fee waiver*
- Official high school transcript (preferably through the Common Application) or completed STARS Record in the URI applicant portal. If you attend a school with proficiency-based grading or narrative transcripts, then please list your course titles and use pass or fail to indicate the grade you received.
- Essay
- Letter of recommendation. If your school counselor writes your letter of recommendation (which is our preference), there is no need to submit a teacher evaluation/recommendation.**
- SAT or ACT score (optional)***
- Supplemental essay (nursing, pharmacy, and Talent Development only)
- Admitted students are required to submit a final high school transcript showing proof of graduation by July 1.

* The Common Application outlines several circumstances that may qualify you to receive a fee waiver. URI also offers school-specific fee waivers to veterans and students applying to the Talent Development program. If one of these options pertains to you, please select it on the Common Application, and a waiver will be applied automatically.
**Pharmacy applicants are required to submit two letters.
***When you complete the Common Application for URI, you will be asked to answer the following: “I would like my test scores (SAT or ACT) to be considered as part of my application to URI.” If you answer yes, we will wait to receive your test scores before reviewing your application for admission.are required to submit a final high school transcript showing proof of graduation by July 1.
You will be able to view the status of all your application materials and confirm their receipt on your URI Applicant Portal. You will also be able to view important application updates.
Please note that it may take up to three weeks for paper and electronic documents to be attached to your application. When the documents are attached, they will reflect the date they were received. We appreciate your patience, and encourage you to check your application status regularly.
