Support for Your Students

Academic Enhancement Center

The Academic Enhancement Center (AEC) is here to support students throughout their college experience. We offer academic coaching, writing support, courses, and tutoring to help students develop effective learning strategies and meet the demands of their coursework.

Academic Testing Center

Academic Testing Center (ATC) primarily administers paper-based exams in a secure location on behalf of URI faculty. Exam accommodations coordinated by Disability, Access and Inclusion, faculty approved make-ups, and culturally inclusive assessments welcome.

Concern for a Student and When to Report?

Student Support and Advocacy Services provides information to help instructors understand what clues to look for when deciding whether to refer a student concern to someone else.

Dean of Students Report It Page

As an instructor, you may be the first contact person who is in a position to help a student in need. The report it page serves as a place to refer student concerns for a variety of situations ranging from hunger to mental health to academic honesty.

Disability, Access, & Inclusion Office

The Disability, Access, and Inclusion (DAI) office collaborates with partners across campus to provide equal access for students. We honor the rights of our students by actively and respectfully addressing disability related barriers in living and learning environments at URI.

Graduate Writing & Presenting Lab

The Graduate Writing and Presenting Lab offers writing and presentation support to all URI graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, researchers and visiting assistant professors. These efforts aim to promote the development of essential skills necessary for success in graduate school and beyond.

Emergency Action Reference Card

This card is a quick, at-a-glance guide designed to help instructors respond calmly and effectively during a variety of possible campus emergencies. (opens as PDF)

Emergency Medical Services

URI Emergency Medical Services (URI EMS) is a dedicated, all-volunteer organization. They provide 24/7 emergency medical care and transport to the Kingston and Bay campuses, with limited services available to the Providence and W. Alton Jones campuses.

Fire & Life Safety

The mission of Fire & Life Safety is to ensure the safety of URI students, personnel and visitors through the application of Rhode Island Fire Codes and Rhode Island Life Safety Codes. In addition, they provide training and investigate university facilities to ensure that fire risks are minimized.

This map highlights where Emergency Blue Light Phones and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are located on campus.

Police Department Services

The URI Campus Police Department offers instructors various safety and Informational resources as well as training opportunities.

Rhody Safe Rides

Rhody On-Demand uses a smartphone app for riders to schedule customized curb-to-curb trips. A small environmentally-friendly shuttle bus will pick up riders and drop them off wherever they wish to travel within the service boundaries.

Community, Equity, & Diversity Office

The Office of Community, Equity and Diversity (CED) is here to support the entire URI community by connecting you with the people and resources to be successful. URI is deeply committed to cultivating an academic, working, and living environment that promotes inclusive excellence.

Emergency Management

The URI Office of Emergency Management is responsible for emergency planning, response, mitigation, and recovery on all URI campuses and serves as the university’s liaison with all external emergency management partners.

Mental Health First Aid

This program trains students, faculty and others working in higher education settings to be able to recognize the symptoms of emerging mental illnesses and to assist others in the event of a mental health crisis.
