FinTech
The four-course (12 credit) FinTech Certificate is available to students from all majors, and maybe a great fit for students with a background in statistical thinking (including students from majors like marketing, mathematics, computer science, business analytics and intelligence, engineering, and humanities).
For Fintech Track (BSBA), you must complete 120 total credits to graduate, with 24 credits in the major.
Both options involve the following four courses:
- FIN 431 – Financial Technologies (FinTech): Dive into the dynamic FinTech industry, exploring everything from payment technologies, blockchain technologies, to the role of AI in finance. Perfect for those eyeing banking, digital investing, or financial advising careers.
- FIN 412 – Introduction to Financial Data Analytics: Learn Python and harness the power of data analytics in finance. Ideal for students who want to master the art of fifinancial data analysis, risk assessment, and algorithmic trading strategies.
- FIN 433 – Machine Learning for Finance (FIN431 and FIN412 are prerequisites): Bridge finance and data science, leveraging machine learning for insightful financial decision-making — a must for those intrigued by quantitative analysis and AI applications in finance.
- FIN 434 – FinTech Law: Navigate the legal and regulatory landscape of the FinTech world. Essential for understanding the complex interplay of law, policy, privacy, and emerging financial technologies.
Students who complete the program will be able to describe the evolution of FinTech and will gain in-depth knowledge of how innovations impact the financial sector, including Artificial Intelligence (AI); blockchain; bitcoin; cloud computing; machine learning; Internet of Things (IoT); crowdfunding; and peer-to-peer (P2P) lending.
