One-Year M.B.A.

Admission and Fees

The Master of Business Administration program is open to students of all educational backgrounds, but this scholarship is only available to non-business URI graduates.

To receive the merit scholarship, you must

  • Graduate from the University of Rhode Island in May or August, 2024 (business majors are not eligible)
  • Have a 3.5 G.P.A. or higher
  • Submit an essay describing a recent business topic of interest to you, why it’s important, and how it relates to your future career goals. Essay should be no more than 1500 words and should be emailed directly to mba@uri.edu.
  • Once the essay is submitted, a virtual interview will be arranged

To apply, complete the online application at the URI Graduate School website. You are able to complete the personal statement, address information, pay the application fee, upload your resume and transcripts, and ask your references to submit their letters of recommendation online. See an example of the online application layout. You will be contacted for an interview after you submit your application.

The scholarship essay must be emailed to mba@uri.edu.

  • Scholarship Essay (see above for instructions)
  • College transcripts from all institutions attended.
    • As a URI grad, you will upload a copy of your unofficial transcripts to the online application. You do not need to send your official transcript. However, if you transferred to URI during any year, you need to upload your unofficial transcript from that institution AND request the official transcripts be sent electronically or by mail directly from them.
    • Official electronic transcripts may be sent via Credentials Solutions, Parchment, and National Student Clearinghouse.
      – When using Parchment, please be sure to select the BusinessCAS system you are using for the destination
    • Official paper transcripts should be sent to: BusinessCAS Transcript Processing Center, PO Box 9221, Watertown MA, 02471
    • Foreign, non-evaluated official transcripts should be sent to:
      URI Graduate School, 204 Quinn Hall, Kingston, RI 02881
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Resume
  • RI Residency Application or Certificate of Residency for RI residents or qualified regional applicants. Upon acceptance, urigrad@etal.uri.edu.
