M.S. in Management (MSM) – Curriculum

Curriculum

The M.S. in Management, Strategic Leadership pathway program includes 30 credits. MSM, Strategic Leadership students take:

  • Mathematical Models for Management
  • Critical Business Skills
  • International Business Management or participate in the Global Immersion
  • Financial Fundamentals for Innovation
  • Marketing Decision-Making
  • Leadership
  • Operations and Project Management
  • Law and Ethics
  • Business Integration I
  • Business Integration II

Students who have not taken managerial economics, financial accounting, and statistics will be given the opportunity to engage in coursework in advance of matriculation.


The M.S. in Management, Sports Management students take 30 credits, including the following core courses:

  • Mathematical Models for Management
  • Critical Business Skills
  • International Business Management or participate in the Global Immersion
  • Financial Fundamentals for Innovation
  • Operations and Project Management
  • Law and Ethics

and the following sports management specialization courses:

  • Strategic Sports Marketing
  • Global Sporting Events
  • Sports Management Product and Service Management (hands-on, 6 credit experiential course)

The M.S. in Management, FinTech specialization (anticipated Fall 2025) will provide an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the theories and evolution of FinTech, data-driven financial modeling, financial data mining and machine learning, financial data analytics, and new innovations in the financial sector, including AI, blockchain, bitcoin, cloud computing, machine learning, IoT, crowd funding, P2P lending, etc. MSM, FinTech students take 33 credits, including:

  • Mathematical Models for Management
  • Critical Business Skills
  • International Business Management or participate in the Global Immersion
  • Financial Fundamentals for Innovation
  • Marketing Decision-Making
  • Leadership
  • Operations and Project Management

and the FinTech specialization courses:

  • FinTech Law
  • Financial Technologies,
  • Introduction to Financial Data Analytics,
  • Machine Learning for Finance

The experiential, STEM-designated marketing track of URI’s Master of Science in Management (anticipated Fall 2026) will emphasize MarTech, consumer behavior, digital marketing, data analytics, and marketing applications of Artificial Intelligence.


The M.S. in Management, Marketing students (beginning Fall 2026) take 36 credits, including:

The M.S. in Management, Human Resource Certificate students take 30 credits, including the following core courses:

and the following HR Certificate courses:
