Junior Year
Your placement will begin in the fall of your junior year. You’ll generally have the same placement for the entire academic year.
In the spring semester, you should begin to prepare for your teacher certification test. Prior to the semester in which you will student teach, URI requires you to take a certification test for the state in which you plan to teach and submit your score to your faculty advisor and the Office of Teacher Education. See your faculty advisor for
support and guidance related to certification tests.
Teacher candidates will need to complete all state requirements for licensure, including licensure testing, prior to certification in any state.
Senior Year
You’ll have another placement in your senior year, and in the spring semester you will student teach.
