The Elementary Education program is a fully accredited certification program which prepares teachers of children in grades 1-6. The curriculum offers a balanced program of academic preparation and professional training.

Major Entry Requirements

  • If you are not admitted to a teacher education program via the Teacher Education Scholar Program (TES), you’ll need to submit an application to the School of Education’s teacher education program during your sophomore year.
  • In addition, meet the following conditions before applying:
    • Earn a minimum overall GPA of 2.75.
    • Complete EDC 102 and 312 with a grade of C or better and complete EDC 250.
    • Complete the following courses: PSY 232 or HDF 200, MTH 208 and 209, and a natural science with a lab.
    • Complete URI 101.
