Re-Enrollment

Reconnect with campus services

URI Student Gateway Page

The student gateway page will help you access all the campus services you’ll need as you re-connect. You’ll find links to all the basics–such as the campus ID office, housing, dining, bookstore, IT, and parking–along with resources for recreation, health and wellness, and inclusion.

Here is a collection of services that returning students might find particularly helpful:

URI Counseling Center

If you find yourself in need of assistance in relation to your mental health or emotional wellbeing, the URI Counseling Center is available to you. You may call 401-874-2288 to schedule an appointment with a Counseling Center staff member. The Counseling Center also makes available to students a list of Self-Help resources that you may access at any time.

The Academic Enhancement Center

The Academic Enhancement Center offers a wide range of services to support students. Here is a brief summary of how you can engage the AEC.

UCS Courses.

University College for Academic Success offers two one-credit courses that you may find helpful. UCS 160: Success in Higher Ed. Learning Environments and UCS 270: Academic and Career Decisions are both offered at various times throughout the academic year. If you would like to consider registering for either course (or both) in the future, I am happy to discuss that with you and help you get enrolled. I highly recommend these classes.

Academic Consultations

These 1-to-1 meetings offer students individualized advice on how to address any academic challenges they may be facing. Students who wish to improve their time management, find more effective ways to study, perform better on exams, or address common challenges like procrastination, distraction, or test anxiety can arrange an in-person or online consultation with the AEC’s study skills expert, Dr. David Hayes, through Starfish. Dr. Hayes can also be reached at davidhayes@uri.edu. I am happy to personally connect you with Dr. Hayes if you would find that helpful.

Study Strategies

The AEC provides a number of self-paced modules on study strategies that you can access any time.

The Writing Center

The Undergraduate Writing Center, located in the basement of Roosevelt Hall, provides individual and group support for students in all disciplines, with any writing assignment, at all stages of the writing process. I highly encourage you to engage with the Writing Center staff early and often this semester.

Tutoring

The AEC offers three types of tutoring for select courses throughout the academic year.

The Center for Career and Experiential Education

I highly encourage you to re-engage with the Center for Career and Experiential Education.  You may make an appointment with a career advisor via your URI Starfish account or via email. If you are unsure who your career advisor is, I am happy to connect you. The staff in CCEE is terrific and they will be so happy to help you continue to align your academics to your professional future.

CCEE also provides numerous professional development modules that you may access at any time.
