Early Move-In Information

The Early Move-In Request form is available now in the URI My Housing portal

If you need or prefer to move-in earlier than the URI Move-In 2026 start date (September 4th), you may choose to participate in URI Early Move-In Week 2026. This program allows you to access your residence hall, suite or apartment as early as Monday, August 31st.

Early Move-In Dates and Charges

Students who need to arrive before regular move in days may request Early Move-In (September 4-7) for $75/day, billed to your Fall 2026 account in late September. The following are the approved estimated early move-in dates and associated costs, based on previous year’s rate:

  • Monday, August 31st: $300
  • Tuesday, September 1st: $225
  • Wednesday, September 2nd: $150
  • Thursday, September 3rd: $75

We will determine your early move-in charges based on the requested date or your arrival date, whichever is earlier. We will add these charges to your Fall term bill. Please pay them in accordance with University billing dates to avoid late fees.

If a URI department or program requests your early arrival, you may qualify for a discounted rate. Please contact your sponsoring department or program in advance to confirm any adjustments.

To be eligible for URI Early Move-In Week 2026, you must be assigned to one of our residence halls, suites or apartments for Fall 2026. We are unable to accommodate students who have off-campus, Greek, or TI/IEP House assignments.

Some things to note about URI Early Move-In Week 2026:

  • You must follow the rules outlined in the 2026-2027 Housing and Residential Life Agreement, the 2026-2027 Housing and Residential Life Community Policies Addendum, and the 2026-2027 Housing Cancellation Policy.

Move-In Instructions

More detailed instructions will be sent to you when your arrival is confirmed and as we get closer to the start of the fall semester.

When arriving for an early arrival, students who do not have a University ID card should go to the Campus ID Dining Office located on the main floor in the Memorial Union right across from the info desk PRIOR to going to their hall. Please note their business hours when planning your campus arrival, if you do not already have your student ID.
