Students, faculty, and campus partners can get started by booking a training session, reserving lab space, or checking out equipment. Whether you need a guided introduction, ongoing access for a project, or a space for collaboration and production, the Innovation Labs offer flexible options to support your goals.

Academic Support

The URI Library Innovation Labs partner with faculty to integrate hands-on tools, technologies, and project-based learning into courses across disciplines. Faculty can collaborate with lab staff to design assignments, workshops, or class sessions that leverage lab resources, while students can receive direct support on academic, creative, and entrepreneurial projects—from early ideation through final production.

Mentorship

Mentorship within the Innovation Labs emphasizes hands-on learning, real-world experience, and personalized support. Students work closely with mentors who help refine ideas, build technical and professional skills, and navigate challenges, creating a learning experience that extends beyond the classroom and prepares them to make meaningful impact through their work.

Becoming a subject matter mentor can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience for those passionate about helping others achieve their creative and entrepreneurial potential.

Giving

Support for the Innovation Labs helps expand access to tools, training, and experiential learning opportunities for students. Contributions directly fuel initiatives such as the Innovation Supply Grant, which provides funding for student-led projects, prototypes, and creative experimentation that might not otherwise be possible.

The URI Library Innovation Labs launched the Innovation Supply Grant to remove financial barriers between student ideas and meaningful execution. With an annual $10,000 allocation, the program provides up to $200 per student project for materials and supplies, following guidance from experienced innovation coaches. Designed to support rapid prototyping, creative exploration, and real-world problem solving, the grant enables timely access to pre-approved resources—whether for MakerSpace materials or time-sensitive campus initiatives—while reinforcing a culture student-driven experimentation.
