Planning

Find the information you need to get ready for J Term.

Enrolling in a J Term course requires advanced planning. If you require an advanced copy of your syllabus or have a specific question about your course, you’ll find the appropriate contact information for your instructor via the URI Faculty and Staff Directory.

Getting started

The building and room location for your Kingston course will be listed in e-Campus. In the days leading up to the beginning of your course, your URI J Term instructor will most likely welcome you to class with a message through Brightspace or an email to your uri.edu account. You must have access to this email address and your URI Brightspace account before your J Term course begins. If you require a syllabus or have a specific question about your course, please find the appropriate contact information for your instructor via the URI Faculty and Staff Directory.

Course materials

The URI Bookstore is generally open Monday – Wednesday, 8:30am-4:30pm during J Term. Online ordering of J Term books will be available starting in the month of December.

Class cancellations

During the J Term, URI will continue to utilize the URI Alert system to announce any class cancellations or delays.

As a full-time employee, full-time student, part-time military and part-time ministry, figuring out a schedule to complete requirements in the traditional semesters is hard. I saw the Winter J Session as a great opportunity to gain the General Education credits I was missing. Fitting 15 weeks worth of college course work in 3-4 weeks was a significant challenge, but I am grateful for the outcome and the professor’s mentorship.
