New and Visiting Students
Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning, we’re excited to have you here!
There are five steps to register for URI Winter J Term. Even if you have taken a course at URI before (or have previously applied to take one), please follow the instructions listed below to take a URI Winter J Term class this year as a non-matriculating student.
Step 1: Complete the Non-Degree Application Form.
- If you see an error message, please try closing your browser (or using a different web browser or device) and then try again. If you continue to have trouble accessing the form, please email Sky Laurent-Kingsley for further troubleshooting.
- Please note, even if you have already completed a URI non-degree application form for a previous academic term (fall, spring, summer, or J Term), your existing URI e-Campus account will not be activated for course registration for this J Term until you have completed a new version of this application form specifically for the 2026 J term.
Step 2: Receive Your URI ID and Set Up e-Campus Access
- Within three business days of the submission of your application form, you will receive your URI Student ID# via an email from Sky Laurent-Kingsley, Specialist for URI Summer Sessions & Winter J Term. Be sure to check your spam folder for receipt of this notification.
- Set Up Your eCampus Account: You must have a URI eCampus account before registering for classes. If you’re a completely new URI student, create your eCampus account. If you have taken a course at URI previously, please proceed to Step 3 or reach out to URI IT Services for support in reactivating your accounts with our new SSO process.
- Activate Your URI Single Sign-On (SSO): Once your eCampus account is created (or if you already have one), make sure your Single Sign-On (SSO) is set up. Follow Step 2 “Set up SSO”, to complete the process.
- Allow Time for Activation: Your SSO, eCampus, and Gmail accounts are typically activated within two hours during business hours.
- Access Key URI Applications: After your SSO is active, log in to the Office 365 MyApps Portal (Step 3) to access your essential URI tools — including eCampus for course registration.
- Need Assistance? If you need to reset your password or require technical assistance, contact the URI IT Service Desk for support.
Step 3: Register
- Follow these step-by-step instructions for enrolling in URI courses via e-Campus.
- Please note that your course may have prerequisites. If a permission number is required for enrollment, please see our steps on the J Term Prerequisites Page.
-
In order to register, you must complete the URI Student Financial Responsibility Agreement in e-Campus, if you haven’t already. For questions, contact URI Enrollment Services at 401-874-9500 or enrollment-group@uri.edu.
Step 4: URI Gmail Account Activation
- Access your URI Gmail Account using URI SSO just like eCampus. Make sure to access Gmail within several hours of registration. Additional login assistance is available through URI IT Services. If needed, please visit the Change your password page.
- Your URI email will be used for important notifications before and throughout your course, so monitor it closely. URI Enrollment Services will use your uri.edu email to notify you when your e-Bill is ready to view and pay in e-Campus, your professor will use it to alert you of important class information, and URI administrators will use it for URI Winter J Term notifications.
- If you encounter any issues related to your URI e-Campus or uri.edu accounts, please contact the URI IT Service Desk at 401-874-4357 or helpdesk@uri.edu. You can also visit the Virtual Service Desk for assistance.
Step 5: Transfer Credit Information
- Make sure your full-time university or college will accept the credits you earn through URI Winter J Term courses. Your school will have an online database of courses accepted for credit from outside institutions and a transfer credit form that you will need to complete and submit to your school if you plan to take a URI course that has not been previously accepted by your school.
- Completing such a form often requires a course syllabus and/or URI course description. Search all official URI Course Descriptions. For a copy of a URI syllabus, email the instructor listed for the class. You can visit the URI Faculty/Staff Directory to lookup the appropriate email address.
