Overnight Accommodations and Fees

New students will be staying in one of our residence halls for orientation, and families/supporters have the option of staying on campus (in a separate residence hall) for an additional cost, or booking their own accommodations in a local inn or hotel with URI’s discounted rates.

On-Campus Housing

Families and supporters who opt to stay on campus are housed in Garrahy Hall. Rooms are air-conditioned, and parking is within walking distance. Garrahy is a suite-style residence hall, so you will share an apartment with up to five other guests from the URI Family and Supporter Orientation program. If traveling with an additional friend/family member, they may either share your room or be assigned their own (these options are made available during the online reservation checkout process).

Rate: 1 bedroom in a shared apartment: $75/night

Apartment Highlights in Garrahy Hall:

  • 2 single-use bathrooms with shower (includes towel and washcloth) and 2 sinks accessible outside of the bathroom.  
  • A full kitchen (unequipped) and a common living space.  
  • Each private bedroom is furnished with (1) full sized bed (including linens, pillow, light blanket), a desk, a chest of drawers, and an armoire.
  • Free parking, and Wi-Fi instructions are provided at check-in

Holiday Inn
The newly renovated Holiday Inn South Kingstown is the closest hotel to the University of Rhode Island and is offering special rates for Orientation. All rooms either contain one king bed or two queen beds. The hotel also contains a full-service restaurant serving breakfast and dinner, as well as a lounge, fitness room, and outdoor pool (open seasonally). The rate for 2024 is a discounted rate of $149/night and includes a full, hot complimentary breakfast each morning. When you book online, submit your arrival and departure date and the discounted rate will load. Reservations booked online are only valid for the month of June for Orientation families/supporters.
