Rhode Island 4-H

The Cooperative Extension’s 4-H Program offers projects, events, and opportunities for children and teens ages 5 to 18, as well as volunteer opportunities for adults.

Learn by doing

We are home to URI’s Cooperative Extension programs in Natural Resources and Environmental Management which include the Water Quality Program and the Renewable Resources Program that provide Rhode Island citizens with the scientific information to better assess and manage their land and water resources.

URI Watershed Watch

A scientist-led volunteer water quality monitoring program.

Departmental resources include spatial analysis and graphics capabilities in our Environmental Data Center and the Laboratory for Terrestrial Remote Sensing; 21st Century chemical analysis laboratories; state-wide teaching and research sites including several State and Federal wildlife management areas; and the Kingston Wildlife Research Station, the longest running bird banding monitoring station in the United States. In addition, NRS hosts multiple personnel from the National Park Service Inventory and Monitoring Program.
