Maybe it’s urgent and you need to speak with someone right away. Or, you’re just looking for a one-off opportunity to talk and get some support. Or perhaps, you need help getting connected with counseling providers in your area who can offer ongoing treatment. Whatever your need may be, wherever you are, TELUS Health (formerly My Student Support Program) and the URI Counseling Center have you covered. 

The URI Counseling Center has partnered with TELUS Health to offer:

  • 24/7 real-time support via chat, video and phone
  • Short-term counseling for students located around the country and the world
    • Phone and chat-based support is available in Cantonese, English, French, Korean, Mandarin, and Spanish
    • Scheduled counseling is available in up to 60 different languages
    • Counselors have a master’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience
  • Referrals in your local area for ongoing treatment
  • Health assessments
  • Virtual fitness classes

In addition to TELUS Health, the URI Counseling Center continues to provide short-term individual therapy and a wide variety of groups, both virtually and in-person.  Pre-screening hours for new and returning clients are M-F 10 AM – 3 PM.

Getting Started with TELUS Health is Easy!

You may access TELUS Health by: 

  • Downloading the TELUS Health app from the Apple Store or Google Play Store and use the chat or phone function.  
  • Call 1.844.584.1027 
    (If calling from outside North America, dial 001.416.380.6578)
  • If you are a web user, the current website myssp.app will continue to be in use for the time being.  On your next visit, you will notice the website has also been rebranded to TELUS Health Student Support.

When you first sign up, you must provide the following information: 

  • The institution you are enrolled with (to ensure eligibility) 
  • Your first and last name 
  • Your preferred phone number and email  
  • Your date of birth (for identification purposes) 
  • A security question for your file (e.g. mother’s maiden name) 

To better understand your questions or issue, you may have to provide additional information. Once you have provided all of the requested information, you’ll be able to connect with a TELUS Health provider.
