Title IX and You: What faculty and staff need to know
Thursday, February 16, 12:30 – 1:30pm – ATL Seminar Room (Chafee 241) or remotely
Presenters: Roxanne Gomes and Gerard Holder (Office of Community, Equity, and Diversity)
Faculty, staff, and students of US educational institutions have a responsibility to know about and uphold Title IX, a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on the sex (gender) of employees and students and covers behaviors related to sexual harassment, sexual violence, verbal and non-verbal conduct, gestures or other unwelcome sexual acts and activities. This session, facilitated by the URI Title IX officers, will focus on specific scenarios related to the role of faculty and staff, whether in the classroom, an office, lab, coffee room, or even off-campus. Come learn your rights and responsibilities as they relate to Title IX.
