Verrecchia Business Scholar, Alexia Noel ’26, discovered her passion for asset management while interning at Fidelity Investments. She is active in the coed business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and two student-led investment funds, and serves as vice president of both Women in Finance and the Financial Management Association at URI. Noel has studied abroad in  Barcelona, explored the sustainable blue economy in Costa Rica, and interned at PIMCO, an investment firm in New York City. She plans to pursue an M.B.A. and earn her Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation after graduation.
Padraig Haughton ‘26, double majors in sports media and communication and film/media at URI. He also works as a creative media intern for the men’s basketball team and student ambassador for the Harrington School of Communication and Media. One of his favorite URI experiences was his high-profile internship with the Connecticut Sun, where he captured several historic moments in sports, including the first WNBA game at TD Garden and Caitlin Clark’s WNBA debut. Haughton continues to hone his skills as he prepares for a career in sports videography and digital content creation.

Leslie Ortiz ‘25, explored STEM and visual design at URI after getting hooked on web development in high school. A first-generation Guatemalan-American student, she majored in international computer science, art, and Japanese. Ortiz earned the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, the Bridging Project Scholarship, and a Beatrice Demers Foreign Language Fellowship, allowing her to study abroad in Japan and pursue research at Okayama University. She also worked with one of her URI professors to research and address technology challenges unique to marginalized people.
Combining his love of science and sports, Matthew Roache ’23 earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and is enrolled in URI’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He was active in the Sankofa Christian Ministry club, played three intramural sports, served as a resident academic mentor for the College of Health Sciences, and worked in URI’s Biomechanics and Wearables Laboratory. An Onyx Senior Honor Society member, Roache earned a Presidential Scholarship and the Ann Spruill Scholarship Endowment.
