The primary industry association that grants approvals to supply management degree programs at colleges and universities nationwide, Institute of Supply Management (ISM), last month announced its top list, and of course, URI’s College of Business Administration is included.

URI’s popular Supply Chain Management Program has been named one of the best in the country for several years. ISM-approved programs provide ample education to meet today’s standards and practices for students with a desire to enter the Supply Management field. URI’s program is designed to prepare students with interdisciplinary skills for linking major business processes. The career opportunities in this area are enormous and continue to grow as over 50 percent of current supply chain professionals are expected to retire within the next decade.

According to the announcement, “Today, many corporations have supply chain management staff with general business education. But as the supply chain becomes an increasingly critical component to efficient and lean operations, more universities are offering opportunities for a more targeted education in supply management and supply chain management.”

ISM conducts an annual survey of the Purchasing Managers Index to estimate economic health in the US. In this survey they also ask professionals to rank programs. The rankings are reported by Camcode, a publisher that works with industry associations.
