Swim the Amalfi Coast

Who: Any full-time URI student, TAC or Rec member. There are no age or ability requirements.

When: September 6th, 2023 – May 4, 2024

What: Swimmers will begin the challenge at Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie and make 20 stops on their way through the Amalfi Coast. You will receive incentives at certain points along your swim. The first incentive will be earned when you reach Spiaggia La Tartaruga, 34.65 miles out. Your second incentive will be received upon reaching Porto di Amalfi Marina, 73.45 miles out and your final at the end, 107 miles out at Castello Angioino Aragonese.

How: Swimmers will swim lengths either in the lap pool or the instructional pool (a length is once up, and lap is up and back). Seventy-one lengths make a mile. Please see a member of the aquatic staff to complete a registration form. You may give a nickname to be used on the tally board if you prefer, rather than your full name.  There is no charge to participate in the program.

Upon completing your swim each visit, record your lengths on a tally sheet with an aquatic staff member. You may do as many or as few lengths in a setting as you choose. The Aquatics Specialist will record and track all members’ progress.

Paddleboard Yoga

Our Paddleboard Yoga class is performed on GLIDEFit boards, which are attached to lane lines in the warm, shallow, instructional pool. This adds intensity to your regular yoga routine by engaging more muscle fibers compared to doing the same exercises off the water. This class engages your core and large muscle groups as well as those muscles used to stabilize your body. It is a low-impact workout that can build strength, coordination, and long-term health. Ages 18+
