Dr. Peng Wang, a professor in Department of Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Sciences at URI,  died in a mid-morning car crash on Monday, Feb 6. See obituary information about Dr. Wang at http://quidnessettmemorialcemetery.org/2012/02/dr-peng-wang-burial/.

Upon learning of this tragedy, the URI Chinese community worked with University administration and moved immediately to help the family with Dr. Wang’s funeral and memorial services.

In addition, our Club held a fundraising event in URI Multicultural Center on Saturday, Feb 10 and raised about $5500 that night. Our Club later worked with the University administration and the rest of the RI Chinese community and continued our fundraising efforts. So far we have raised more than $12,000 for the family.
