Credential Review Pathway

The Credential Review Pathway (CRP) allows prospective and current educators with extensive work and educational experience and an exceptional academic record (minimum 3.0 GPA) the opportunity to pursue initial certification by working with URI’s School of Education, or another RIDE approved institution.

Please note that at URI, we offer CRP options in these areas:

  • Elementary Special Education Teacher, Grades 1-6
  • Middle Grades Special Education Teacher, Grades 5-8
  • Middle Grades English Teacher Elementary Extension, Grades 5-8
  • Middle Grades English Teacher Secondary Extension, Grades 5-8
  • Middle Grades Mathematics Teacher Elementary Extension, Grades 5-8
  • Middle Grades Mathematics Teacher Secondary Extension, Grades 5-8
  • Middle Grades Science Teacher Elementary Extension, Grades 5-8
  • Middle Grades Science Teacher Secondary Extension, Grades 5-8
  • Middle Grades Social Studies Teacher Elementary Extension, Grades 5-8

Students pursuing this pathway are considered non-matriculating students, as they are not part of an approved program.

To get started, please complete the online Credential Review Pathway Potential Application Overview form, and submit all applicable transcripts to crp@etal.uri.edu. Please specify that you are interested in the Credential Review Pathway. Do not submit any additional application materials (except as noted) until the initial review is completed.
