Low Back Pain Study

MS student, Chrissie Wojciechowski, and PI Dr. Ryan Chapman are conducting a study evaluating the biomechanics differences between individuals with different presentations of low back pain. The results of their study will better inform how low back pain is managed clinically and improve the efficacy of that care.

National Biomechanics Day 2022

Annually, the Biomechanics and Wearables Lab directed by Dr. Chapman and the Motion Analysis and Virtual Reality Lab directed by Dr. Susan D’Andrea to host high school students from around Rhode Island for a day focused on experiencing the hands on components critical to our science. Around 100 students attended the event in 2022, making a significant return to pre-pandemic levels of participation.

Dr. Ryan Chapman was hired in the fall of 2021 as an assistant professor of Kinesiology. He now holds an additional appointment in Biomedical Engineering. His interdisciplinary approach helps him solve some of the most challenging healthcare problems using musculoskeletal biomechanics and wearable sensor development.
