Dreaming: A Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King with Rachel Briggs, Tuesday, January 14, 9:30AM-11:00AM Special: $5 fee. Click here to register.
You are invited to reflect on the power of Dr. King’s vision of justice, equality, and love to create a better world. Like Dr. King, we all have the power to create a brighter future for ourselves and our children. This program is a celebration of imagination, inclusion, and hope. We honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by combining poetry, storytelling, and discussion. We are encouraged to reflect on the importance of inclusion and making space for others.
We will share our visions of what we would change to align with Dr. King’s dream of unity and come away with actions to honor Dr. King’s legacy in our daily lives. “I say to you today, my friends, though, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”
From the speech by the Rev. Martin Luther King at the March on Washington August 28, 1963

In this class, students learn the four components of Compassionate Communication and how to use them successfully to communicate with anyone in any conversation. We’ll learn true empathetic listening & uncover behaviors that impede our ability to practice kindness & be present. Wildlife Outreach Program – Coexisting With Coyotes, Kingston Free Library, Potter Hall Wed, Jan 15, 2025 6:30PM-7:30PM Coyotes are greatly misunderstood, but most of their fear-instilling actions are simply a part of their life history and strategy for survival. Still, these critters can certainly become a nuisance, especially if they begin to den under decks and dine out of chicken coops. Learning why these creatures behave the way they do is the key to finding resolution. Join RIDEM Division of Fish and Wildlife to learn about coyote natural history, discoveries made by the Narragansett Bay Coyote Study, and ways to coexist with them. This program is free, but registration is required so staff can prepare enough materials for attendees. Please register HERE
