FALL REGISTRATION BEGINS TOMORROW TUESDAY, SEPT 1 – Classes Begin Sept 14

FALL catalogs have been mailed to all current/active OLLI members! You can also browse the catalog online by Clicking Here. Choose from 4 convenient ways to register:

1.       Online: Starting at 7:00 AM  (Click Here to log into your OLLI account)

2.       By phone: Starting at 9:00 AM (Call 401.874.4197)

3.       Walk-in: Starting at 9:00 AM

4.       Mail – Download the Registration Form from our website (or pick one up in the office). Fill it out and include a check (made out to URI).  

Important Preparation Tips For Registering Online:

  • Password Update May Be Required: Check your password today so you’re ready to register on Tuesday.
  • Check Your Membership Renewal Date: Your membership must be active throughout the duration of your classes. The system will now prompt you to renew if necessary.

FALL ADD ON CLASSES*: 

QiGong for Vitality – Introduction 6 Sessions with Nancy Mayne Fridays beginning Sept 11, 9-10AM QiGong is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which combines gentle movements, coordinated breath, and focused intention to cultivate vital energy, “Qi”. This practice is often called the grandmother of Tai Chi, as both are based on the repetition of simple, accessible movement patterns intended to maintain health and prevent injury. During these six sessions, we will explore forms that enhance balance and coordination, improve flexibility, and reduce stress, including Ji Ben Gong, Cloud Hands and Six Qi Cultivation. No prior experience needed. 

QiGong Continuing Practice – Foundations 6 Sessions with Nancy Mayne Fridays beginning Sept 11, 10:15-11:05AM These practice sessions are designed to give participants opportunities to review and reconnect with QiGong forms and sets they learned in QiGong for Vitality, including Ji Ben Gong, Cloud Hands, Six QiCultivation and Five Elements (first series). Open to those who have completed the introductory QiGong class. 

QiGong Continuing Practice – Deepening 6 Sessions with Nancy Mayne Fridays beginning Sept 11, 11:15AM-12:05PM These practice sessions are designed to give participants opportunities to review and reconnect with QiGong forms and sets they learned in Deepening Practice, including Ba Duan Jin and Five Elements (second series), as well as explorations in Tian Gan. Open to those who have completed the introductory QiGong class. 

*All QiGong Classes will be held at the Studio at Mariner Square

MAHJONGG GUIDED PLAY SESSION- Did you just learn to play and you want some help or have questions? Attend the Guided Play class session where you play real hands of Mah Jongg with an instructor available to answer questions, point out options, and keep the game moving so you’re playing, not just listening. Please bring your 2026 National Mah Jongg League card, and if you don’t have one yet, no problem — we’ll have cards available to borrow at the table. Sets will be provided but if you want to play on yours, feel free to bring it!  (Prerequisite: Registrants should have taken the beginner Learn to Play Mah Jongg class or have some prior experience.) CAUTION – Due to URI construction there is a new temporary sidewalk from Flagg Road that leads to the OLLI building #210. From Flagg Road – Take a right at the OLLI sign, follow the temporary sidewalk to the old sidewalk which leads to the front door of the OLLI building.

PARKING PASSES- 2025/2026 Parking Passes expired July 31.  Please call the office to renew your 2026/2027 permit if you haven’t already done so.

URI FALL 2026 HONORS COLLOQUIUM – Interstellar Exploration: Journey Beyond Your Limits  From black holes and distant exoplanets to gravitational waves rippling through the universe, and aspiring to travel to Mars and back to the moon, the cosmos teems with mysteries that both inspire awe and demand answers. Several national space and astrophysics experts—including some with ties to NASA—will visit the University of Rhode Island this fall to examine the science of outer space for the URI Honors Program’s 63rd annual Honors Colloquium, titled “Interstellar Exploration: Journey Beyond Your Limits.” Tuesdays, 5:30 PM, Sept 15 through Dec 8 Edwards Hall, 64 Upper College Road, on the Kingston Campus. The lectures are free and open to the public—registration is required to attend the lectures. All lectures will be livestreamed and registration is required to receive stream links. 

THE RHODE ISLAND GERIATRIC EDUCATION CENTER is seeking volunteers to participate in the Introduction to Interdisciplinary Geriatrics and Teamwork program during the Fall 2026 semester. In this program, students from nursing, pharmacy, communicative disorders, nutrition, public health, and human development work in interdisciplinary teams to develop a care plan for a “patient” following their initial assessments. URI DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH (in partnership with Hunter College and Cornell University) Seeking adults, ages 60 and older, to participate in a Family Study to understand how and why they support family members, especially adult children. Participants must meet the eligibility criteria below:

  • Age 60 and older
  • Living in the Northeast region of the US
  • Have an adult child in their 30s and 40s.

Interviews can be conducted via zoom or phone for 1.5-2 hrs. Each participant will receive a $50 gift card as a thank you for their time. See Flyer for details, Click Here to register.
