Message from OLLI Executive Director

Dear OLLI Members,

I wanted to update you on the work of the Advisory Council and myself during the past few weeks.

Covid19 has impacted everyone including OLLI, but we believe we have taken the necessary steps to ensure a strong return to our Lifelong Learning Community when we are able to return.

All OLLI courses and activities have been put on hold through July 31.

All current memberships will be extended by 3 months.

Credits will be issued to members enrolled in Spring courses that were unable to be completed, as well as for those courses that never started. We may be facing an extended time off and if you are willing to donate your credits, it will help us withstand the uncertainties. I will be calling members individually to review your credits and invite you to consider waiving all or a portion back to OLLI.

The three staff members will begin working on a half time basis May 1- July 31, presuming we will be able to open in August.

We are gearing up for a full line up of courses and activities beginning in August and running through December. Many of our canceled classes will be offered during this time along with other enriching courses.

While we do our part in “social distancing,” we will communicate weekly with you providing information and helpful links. In addition, we are working with a few of our OLLI instructors to provide you with some on-line presentations which you can access from home.

During this time, we are also completing the implementation process of our new Member Software and fine-tuning the process for you to register online for both classes and membership. Our OLLI Strategic Planning teams will continue with their assigned research and tasks to enhance your OLLI participation.

Please contact us via email at olli@etal.uri.edu

We miss you and pray that you and your loved ones remain healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

Beth Leconte
