GREAT DECISIONS BOOK ORDER 2025 – SOLD OUT!
Books can be purchased directly from the fpa.org website. The OLLI discussions are member-led and will begin in February with sessions at 3:00pm on the third Thursday of the month and at 10:00am on the third Friday. Registration for each session is required every semester.

DIY Holiday Watercolor Note Cards – due to popular demand a second session has been added on Wed. December 4th 1:30-3:00. Kara Marziali will help you create six note cards for the upcoming holidays. MATERIALS FEE: $10 (cash, check, PayPal, or Venmo) to be paid directly to the instructor the day of class. Developing a R.I. Climate Strategy: The Role of Energy Efficiency

How can Rhode Island address the root causes of climate change while adapting to violent storms, hotter summers, and rising seas? This fireside chat will feature a panel of Rhode Island experts working to reduce carbon emissions through energy-efficiency measures and improve infrastructure resilience in the face of climate change. With insights from experts at the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank, the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources, and Truth Box Architects, the session will explore why energy efficiency is such a vital aspect of climate mitigation, the importance of the effort to electrify our energy system, and the best approaches to policy and energy efficiency program implementation. FALL 2024 OFFSHORE WIND: Experts at URI are collaborating to better understand the impacts of renewable energy projects such as the Block Island Wind Farm sitting just off our coast. This semester we will hear from professors researching the behaviors of land and sea animals as well as the effects on surrounding communities.These live webinars provide the opportunity to hear from URI’s leading faculty and ask questions. David Bidwell, Marine Affairs – As new offshore wind farm projects commence along the New England coast, who gets to have a say in where, or if, they happen? Professor David Bidwell is studying how vulnerable groups and communities are reacting to their development, including residents’ and visitors’ attitudes toward the Block Island Wind Farm project and its impacts on tourism and recreation, as well as the role of the media in public perception of offshore wind farms.
