Special Notice:

  • There is only one wine tasting (not 2 as originally scheduled) at the Coast Guard House next Tuesday, January 11, at 3pm. There is still space available to register!
  • If a class is full, please make sure to add your name to the Wait List. Oftentimes there are cancellations before the class begins and a staff member will call to register you. Also, we may have the opportunity to add another section of the class. If that happens we will call you to see if you would like to register.

Reminder
MASKS are REQUIRED to be worn by both members and instructors. We make every effort to set up our sound system to work around this challenge, but we ask that you be patient and try to sit close to the front of the room if you have difficulties hearing.

JOIN US TO SEE “MAID”

Earlier in December we told you about OLLI’s personal connection with the award-winning Netflix series MAID.  Marylen McKenna, OLLI member and co-chair of our curriculum committee, and Roberta Palmer, OLLI member services director are directly related to the writer and screenplay creator.

To prepare for our interactive virtual program with them February 11, we will be viewing the episodes here at OLLI on the following dates:  Fridays, from 1pm to 3pm on January 14, 21, 28 Feb 4. Call the office (401) 874-4197 or email us to let us know you’re joining us!

This ten-episode series follows a single mother who escapes an abusive relationship only to find herself desperate for a better life for her daughter. She takes a job cleaning houses while trying to keep from being homeless and figures out her next step. As a single mother she is tested every step of the way while refusing to give up on a better future.

More details and registration for our virtual event coming soon!

If you’re coming to class at OLLI, don’t forget to check out the bookcase located in the lobby. It’s full of books for you to browse through and you can donate your used books as well!

Visit the Zoo or Volunteer

Winter Wonder Days are back at the Zoo with 1/2 price admission in January & February

Ring in the new year with a visit to your Zoo! Enjoy half-priced admission now through February 28th. A winter visit offers a unique experience and great way to beat cabin fever. Stop by and say hello to animals like snow leopards and red pandas enjoying the cooler temperatures. Or take a break from the winter weather and look in at the Komodo dragon, tree kangaroos, elephants and giraffes inside World of Adaptations and the Textron Elephant & Giraffe Pavilion. Click here to reserve tickets.

If you have a passion for animals and the environment, and enjoy being around people who share your passion, RWPZoo’s volunteer program may be right for you! Help in their mission to conserve wildlife and wild places. They’re now recruiting teen and adult volunteers for a variety of positions. Click here to learn more.
