CHECK OUT THIS ARTICLE BY OLLI MEMBER FRANK HEPPNER on “Saving and Restoring Kingston Station, and a Railfan’s Life: Part II.” Frank taught more than 25,000 students as a professor at URI. But his real passion was railroads. Read about his passion and how it led him on a path to lead the effort to save and restore Kingston Station, the oldest continuous passenger train station on the East Coast. In this article, Frank describes how Kingston Station was saved and restored twice, once in 1974 and again after a 1988 fire. At the end of the article is a Q&A with more information about Kingston Station and its operations today. There are some terrific photos as well.
